CITY OF LANETT

REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING

January 07, 2008

The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, January 7, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 12:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Heard, Councilmember McCoy, Councilmember Duskin and Councilmember Yarbrough. Councilmember Malone was absent. Mayor Oscar Crawley was present and presided over the meeting.

Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.

Councilmember Duskin made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Yarbrough made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of December 17, 2007. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 01-08-01 – Approval of Application to Incorporate a Public Corporation as an Improvement District”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-01 – Approval of Application to Incorporate a Public Corporation as an Improvement District”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 01-08-02 – Appointment of Directors to the Improvement District”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-02 – Appointment of Directors to the Improvement District”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 01-08-03 Frontier National Bank-Line of Credit”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-03 Frontier National Bank-Line of Credit”. Councilmember Yarbrough seconded the motion. Councilmember McCoy said this is the only line of credit that the City of Lanett has which is $300,000.00. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 01-08-04 Application filed seeking Authority to Incorporate as a Capital Improvement Cooperative District”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-04 Application filed seeking Authority to Incorporate Capital Improvement Cooperative”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 01-08-05- Appointment of Director to the Board of Directors of The Landing at the Venue Project”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-05 - Appointment of Director to the Board of Directors of The Landing at the Venue Project” which will be Diane Bradshaw and her term would expire on the fourth anniversary date. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Yarbrough read “Resolution 01-08-06 – Declaration of Preliminary and Final Assessments of Property within the Improvement District”. Councilmember Yarbrough made a motion to adopt “Resolution 01-08-06 – Declaration of Preliminary and Final Assessments of Property within the Improvement District”. Councilmember seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Teddy Morris, Police Chief presented “Commendation to a Citizen”. Norman Sheppard was present to receive the commendation for his helping in solving 15 burglaries in City of Lanett.

Police Chief Teddy Morris presented “Commendation to Police Officers” Lieutenant Johnny Wood, Police Officer Nathan White, and Police Officer Michael J Jones for solving 15 burglaries in the City of Lanett. Police Chief Teddy Morris presented Lieutenant Rickey Billingslea with a commendation for completing the highest police standards in the police department. Police Chief Teddy Morris also had a commendation for Tifton Dobbs, which was not present.

There being no further business to come before this Council, motion duly made, meeting was adjourned.
