CITY OF LANETT

REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING

March 19, 2007

The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, March 19, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Jamie Heard, John Duskin, Mike Yarbrough and Kyle McCoy. Councilmember Malone was absent. Mayor Oscar Crawley was present and presided over the meeting, but late 6:05 P.M.

Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.

Councilmember Duskin made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Yarbrough made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of March 5, 2007. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Mayor Crawley explained the reason for being late was he went to the Valley Sportplex where “Up With People” where Mayor Crawley had to make a speech.

Councilmember Heard made a motion to go into “Executive Session – Discuss Matter Pertaining To Economic Development, Commerce and Trade”. Councilmember Duskin and Councilmember Yarbrough seconded the motion. Roll call vote as follows; Councilmember Heard – Yay, McCoy – Yay, Duskin – Yay, Yarbrough – Yay, and Mayor Crawley – Yay. Motion to go into “Executive Session” unanimously carried. Executive Session will last for 20 minutes.

Councilmember Yarbrough made a motion to come out of “Executive Session – Discuss Matter Pertaining To Economic Development, Commerce and Trade”, which lasted from 6:12 P.M. to 6:45 P.M. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Roll call vote as follows; Councilmember Heard – Yay, McCoy – Yay, Duskin – Yay, Yarbrough – Yay, and Mayor Crawley – Yay. Motion to come out of “Executive Session” unanimously carried.

Councilmember McCoy commented on what a good job Acting Chief Morris did on the “Women Less Beauty Pageant”.

Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 03-07-05 – Call For Legislation/Referendum To Allow Draft and Keg Beer Sales in Chambers County”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 03-07-05 – Call For Legislation/Referendum To Allow Draft and Keg Beer Sales in Chambers County”. Councilmember Heard and Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Yarbrough read “Resolution 03-07-07 – Sell of Surplus City Property (Police Department)”. Councilmember Yarbrough made a motion to adopt “Resolution 03-07-07 – Sell of Surplus City Property (Police Department)”. Councilmember Heard and Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Mayor Crawley welcomed a special guest Dimitios Goumas from the Ocean Breeze Seafood Restaurant.

They’re being no further business to come before this Council, motion duly made, meeting was adjourned.
