CITY OF LANETT
REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING
April 2, 2007
The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, April 2, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Malone, Councilmember Duskin, Councilmember Heard, and Councilmember McCoy. Councilmember Yarbrough was absent. Mayor Oscar Crawley was present and presided over the meeting.
Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.
Councilmember McCoy made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of March 19, 2007. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the special call council meeting of March 27, 2007. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Bill Scott came before the Mayor and Council to report the progress on the Chattahoochee Fuller Center for housing. Mr. Scott said the project is not yet complete and he thanked the City of Lanett for the team effort with the Chattahoochee Fuller Center Project.
Susan Towry with The Towry Company came before the Mayor and Council to discuss the different grants that the City of Lanett could apply for.
Councilmember Malone presented and read Proclamation “Municipal Clerk Week – April 29th – May 5th, 2007”. Councilmember Malone made a motion for April 29th – May 5th, 2007 as “Municipal Clerks Week”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Heard presented and read Proclamation “April Child Abuse Prevention Month”. Tri-County Advocacy Center Director Timothy Birt was presented with the proclamation.
Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 04-07-03 Airport Security Camera Bid”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 04-07-03 Airport Security Camera Bid”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 04-07-02 Administrative Car Bid Award”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Roll call vote as follows: Councilmember Malone - Nay, Heard- Yea, McCoy – Yea, Duskin – Yea and Mayor Crawley – Yea. Motion unanimously carried. King Ford had the lowest bid of $21,944.95.
Councilmember McCoy read “Summit Big Cat – License Retail Table Wine Off Premises only – Aashutosh Patel (Nisha Business, Inc.). Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy read “ Ocean Breeze – License restaurant Retail Liquor Pouring – Dimitios Goumas”. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy made a motion to appoint Robert L Johnson to Industrial Development Authority Board for a term of three years. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 04-07-01 – Allow City Resident to Connect To Huguley Water Authority Water Line”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 04-
07-01 – Allow City Resident to Connect To Huguley Water Authority Water Line”. Councilmember Heard and McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. City Manager Joel Holley said that he had talked to Scott Windsor and Huguley Water could set a meter
for the City of Lanett, but the City of Lanett would pay more for the water than what would be charged.
Councilmember Duskin presented and read Proclamation “ Hike/Bike/Run Week”. Dennis Lindsay with Valley Haven was presented with the Proclamation. The City of Lanett declared the week of April 29, 2007 to May 5, 2007 Valley Haven Hike Bike Week.
Councilmember Duskin said he is excited for the things going on in the City of Lanett.
Mayor Crawley welcomed the citizens from West Shawmut.
There being no further business, to come before this Council, motion duly made, and meeting was adjourned.
