CITY OF LANETT

REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING

May 7, 2007

 

The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, May7, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M.  The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Malone, Councilmember Duskin, Councilmember Heard, Councilmember McCoy, and Councilmember Yarbrough.  Mayor Crawley was present and presided over the meeting.

 

Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.

 

Councilmember McCoy made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda.  Councilmember Heard seconded the motion.  Motion unanimously carried.

 

Councilmember Duskin made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of April 16, 2007.  Councilmember Heard seconded the motion.  Motion unanimously carried.

 

Councilmember Malone presented and read “Proclamation – Older American’s Month”. Those accepting the proclamation were Genell Cockran, Lottie Nolen, Bob Wilbanks, Mattie Walker, Leola Andrews, Cleola Donley, Fannie Spence, Corine Melton, Betty Travick, Bettie Cobb, Willine Spence, Mary Woody and Robert Walker,

 

Councilmember Heard nothing this evening.

 

Councilmember McCoy wanted to thank Jane Farrar, Richard Ballard and the staff from the Senior Center for what a good job they are doing.

 

Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 05-07-01 – Municipal Water Pollution Prevention (MWPP) Program”.  Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 05-07-01 – Municipal Water Pollution Prevention (MWPP) Program”.  Councilmember Malone seconded the motion.    Motion unanimously carried.

 

Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 05-07-02 – Purchase Property For The Lanett Airport To Comply With FAA Regulations”.  Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 05-07-02 – Purchase Property For The Lanett Airport To Comply With FAA Regulations”.  Councilmember Yarbrough seconded the motion.  Councilmember McCoy asked if the property was adjacent to the City of Lanett Airport.  Attorney Larry Nix said yes.   Motion unanimously carried.

 

Councilmember Yarbrough wanted to congratulate Jane Farrar, Richard Ballard and the staff at the Nutrition Center for what they do.  Councilmember Yarbrough wanted to congratulate the City of Lanett new Code Enforcer Officer Lincoln Whaley.  Councilmember Yarbrough said that he encourages the Mayor Oscar Crawley and City Manager Joel Holley to let Code Enforcer Officer Lincoln Whaley do his job.

 

Mayor Crawley wanted to thank Jane Farrar, Richard Ballard and the staff from the Senior Center for what a good job they are doing.

 

They’re being no further business, to come before this Council, motion duly made, and meeting was adjourned at 6:12 P.M.
