CITY OF LANETT
REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING
October 01, 2007
The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, October 1, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Malone, Councilmember Duskin, Councilmember Heard, Councilmember McCoy, and Councilmember Yarbrough. Mayor Crawley was absent. Mayor Pro Tem Heard was present and presided over the meeting.
City Manager Joel Holley said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.
Councilmember Duskin made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy made the motion to amend the prepared agenda and move Councilmember Heard item #1 and #2 to Councilmember Malone. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of September 03, 2007. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Malone read, “Contract for Services – Georgia/Alabama Football Association (GAFA)”. Councilmember Malone made a motion to adopt “Contract for Services – Georgia/Alabama Football Association (GAFA)”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Malone read “Proclamation Public Power Week”.
Councilmember Malone read “Resolution 10-07-01 – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)”. Councilmember Malone made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-01 – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 10-07-07 Budget 2007-2008”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-07 Budget 2007-2008”. Councilmember Yarbrough seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Councilmember McCoy thanked Deborah Daniel City Clerk, Jenell Lee Treasurer, and Joel Holley City Manager for the work on the budget.
Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 10-07-03 – Reappointment to the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee Water Supply District”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-03 – Reappointment to the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee Water Supply District”. Councilmember Malone seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Councilmember McCoy thanked Bobby Williams for his support for serving on the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee Water Supply District and the board has been delighted to have him serve.
Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 10-07-02 – Retiree Bonus”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-02 – Retiree Bonus”. Councilmember Yarbrough seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 10 –07-08 – Authorize The Purchase of Property (Holloway)”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10 –07-08 – Authorize The Purchase of Property (Holloway)”. Councilmember Malone seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin congratulated the Lanett High School Panthers football team.
Councilmember Yarbrough read “Resolution 10-07-05 – Police Department Contract Copier/Fax/Printer/Scanner Bid Award”. Councilmember Yarbrough made motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-05” – Police Department Contract Copier/Fax/Printer/Scanner Bid Award”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Yarbrough read “Resolution 10-07-06 –Permission Allowing Police Officers to Work Auburn University Game Days”. Councilmember Yarbrough made motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-06 –Permission Allowing Police Officers to Work Auburn University Game Days”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Councilmember Yarbrough said in the past the officers worked the football games.
Councilmember Yarbrough read “Resolution 10-07-04 – Digital In-Car Video Recording System Bid Award”. Councilmember Yarbrough made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-04 – Digital In-Car Video Recording System Bid Award”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried. Councilmember Yarbrough said the money would be coming out of the Confiscated Drug Account.
Councilmember Yarbrough said that Monday October 1, 2007 was an exciting day for Chambers County Annex, which they had grand opening at the old Charter Bank building in Lanett, Alabama and Councilmember Yarbrough thanked John W Johnson for making that happen.
They’re being no further business, to come before this Council, motion duly made, and meeting was adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
