CITY OF LANETT

REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING

October 15, 2007

The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, October 15, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Jamie Heard, Kyle McCoy, and John Duskin. Councilmember Tony Malone and Councilmember Mike Yarbrough were absent. Mayor Oscar Crawley was present and presided over the meeting.

Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.

Councilmember Duskin made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda and amended agenda. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember McCoy made the motion to adopt the prepared amended agenda. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Duskin made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of October 1, 2007. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 10-07-10 – sale Surplus Property to Huguley Fire Department”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-10 – sale Surplus Property to Huguley Fire Department”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 10-07-11 – AMEA Energy Levelization Rider Authorization”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-11 – AMEA Energy Levelization Rider Authorization”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember Heard presented certificates to Jamie Baca, Jamie Heard, Jake Hackett, Kyle Jackson, John Kennedy, Richard Pike, Charles Potts, Neil Spear and Sam Thrower from the Alabama Fire College for 16-hour class required before taking any of the rescue classes to Chief Tim Jennings.

Carrie Yates with the Industrial Development Authority was present at council meeting along with gentleman from Mando America, which expanded in September 2006 into the former Master Machinery building in the Huguley Industrial Park. Carrie Yates said that Mando was here to ask for tax abatement agreement.

Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 10-07-09 – Mando America Corporation Tax Abatement”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-09 – Mando America Corporation Tax Abatement”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember McCoy read the first reading “Ordinance 10-07-01 – Uniform Business License Schedule”.

Councilmember Duskin presented “Proclamation – Farm City Week”. Darrell Bishop and Miss Chambers County Agriculture Abby Terry were at council meeting to accept the proclamation for National Farm-City week. Miss Chambers County Agriculture Abby Terry accepted the proclamation.

Councilmember Duskin congratulated the Lanett High Panther Football Team on their win Friday October 12, 2007.

Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 10-07-12 - De-Annexation of Certain Real Property”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 10-07-12 - De-Annexation of Certain Real Property”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.

Councilmember McCoy read the first reading “Ordinance 10-07-02 – Annexation of Certain Property”.

There being no further business to come before this Council, motion duly made, meeting was adjourned at 6:35 P.M.
