CITY OF LANETT
REGULAR SCHEDULED COUNCIL MEETING
November 5, 2007
The City Council of the City of Lanett, Alabama, met in regular session on Monday, November 05, 2007, in the Council Chambers of the Lanett Municipal Complex at 6:00 P.M. The roll was taken and the following were found to be present: Councilmember Tony Malone, Jamie Heard, Kyle McCoy, and John Duskin. Councilmember Mike Yarbrough was absent. Mayor Oscar Crawley was present and presided over the meeting.
Reverend Gary Armes said the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance.
Mayor Crawley welcomed everyone to council meeting and that this was the largest crowd ever.
Councilmember McCoy made the motion to adopt the prepared agenda. Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin made the motion to dispense with reading and to adopt the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of October 15, 2007. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Malone had nothing this evening.
Councilmember Heard read “Resolution 11-07-03 – Join Master Mutual Aid Agreement with Electric Cities of Alabama”. Councilmember Heard made a motion to adopt “Resolution 11-07-03 – Join Master Mutual Aid Agreement with Electric Cities of Alabama”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Heard presented “Proclamation Mount Hermon Baptist Church – 100th Anniversary”. The proclamation was presented to Reverend Louis Upshaw, Phyllis Stiggers, and Essie Harris. Councilmember Heard invited everyone to the Mount Hermon Baptist Church Sunday November 11, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. for the 100th Anniversary with guest speaker Reverend Eugene Cook. Mayor and Council of the City of Lanett sends there best wishes and congratulations.
Councilmember Malone asked if the legal matters were worked out with someone else who believes that they own L.B. Sykes School. Councilmember Heard told him that the Ad Hock Committee would be meeting Tuesday, November 6, 2007 to discuss the Lanett Junior High School.
Councilmember McCoy read “Ordinance 10-07-01 – 2nd Reading Uniform Business License Schedule”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Ordinance 10-07-01 – 2nd Reading Uniform Business License Schedule”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember McCoy read “Resolution 11-07-04 – Authorizing for 2008 FAA Grant-Lanett Municipal Airport”. Councilmember McCoy made a motion to adopt “Resolution 11-07-04 – Authorizing for 2008 FAA Grant-Lanett Municipal Airport”. Councilmember Duskin seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 11-07-01 – Recycling Partnership”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 11-07-01 – Recycling Partnership”. Councilmember McCoy and Councilmember Heard seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin read “Resolution 11-07-02 – Used Trencher Bid”. Councilmember Duskin made a motion to adopt “Resolution 11-07-02 – Used Trencher Bid”. Councilmember McCoy seconded the motion. Motion unanimously carried.
Councilmember Duskin congratulated the Lanett High Panther Football Team on their 10 wins and 0 losses this year.
Councilmember Duskin presented “Proclamation National Hospice/Palliative Care Month – November 2007”. Kay Maxwell was presented the proclamation.
Stanley Roberts along with Natasha Brooks (PTO President) and Denise Zachary came before the Mayor and Council to thank them. Stanley Roberts announced about the BBQ Friday, November
16, 2007 and Saturday, November 17, 2007 that the Lanett High School Athletic Club is having. Stanley Roberts presented each councilmember with Lanett Panthers hats.
Christine Simpson, Vice President (50 year member) of AKA Sorority along with Emily Williams, President and Phyllis Zachary, 20-year member came before the Mayor and Council to present a Proclamation to the City of Lanett. Emily Williams presented the proclamation.
There being no further business to come before this Council, motion duly made, meeting was adjourned at 6:35 P.M.
