For an Emergency

DIAL 9-1-1

The City of Lanett Fire Department was formed in 1956 and was mostly a volunteer department offering fire suppression to most of the area on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee River known as "The Valley." In 1981, the department took on the responsibility of also providing ambulance service to its citizens and became the Lanett Fire and EMS Department.

The Department has now grown to 20 fulltime and 8 part-time employees. All employees are highly trained in fire suppression and emergency medical services. Our fire jurisdiction includes the incorporated city limits of approximately 6.5 square miles while our EMS jurisdiction extends to approximately 140 square miles of the unincorporated areas of Chambers County. This area is covered by 3 advanced life support ambulances, 2 class A pumpers, a 75' ladder truck and 2 command units. The Lanett Fire and EMS Department responds to approximately 3,200 calls for service per year and also provide mutual and automatic aid to our neighboring departments. The department operates on an annual budget of approximately 1.3 million dollars per year.

The Lanett Fire and EMS Department is very fortunate to have the support and backing of our Mayor, City Council and citizens, which allows us to continue to meet our goal of providing professional, caring and compassionate service to all those in need.
