LANETT UTILITIES DEPARTMENT
The City of Lanett owns its own Electrical Distribution system and maintains crews on call 24 hours a day to serve the needs of our customers. This translates into unparalleled service and support for our customers. The Electric Department recently received the Distinguished Service for Excellence Award from the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority.
Lanett obtains power through the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority www.amea.com as do ten other Alabama cities. AMEA provides member communities a reliable and economical supply of electric power.
The City of Lanett’s Gas Department provides natural gas service to customers in the city limits, as well as the communities of West Shawmut, and Huguley. The gas system has been in operation since 1952 and provides 24-hour service to our customers. The gas system is annually inspected by the Alabama Public Service Commission, and the city has maintained excellent reviews, and is currently conducting pipeline replacement projects to insure the safety of our customers and citizens.

Utility Services Department
The City of Lanett’s Utility Services Department is made of the city’s meter reading crew and the Utility Service Technician. Our meter reading crew is tasked with the reading of all city utility meters (electric, water, and gas) and do so once per month. The Utility Service Technician works with customers in establishing service connections.
